Today I would like to introduce to you Ali Ibn Abi Talib r.a. Unlike the previous three companions of Prophet s.a.w., where they use their wealth to Infaq in all kind of expenditures for the sake of Allah s.w.t., Ali r.a. was different. Instead of wealth, he Infaq himself for the course of Islam and for the sake of Allah s.w.t.
INFAQ 1 - Impersonate Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. during Hijrah episode
Ali r.a. bravely and willingly took up the challenging and dangerous role in impersonating Prophet s.a.w. during Prophet's s.a.w. migration to Madinah, Hijrah. Ali r.a. slept on Prophet's s.a.w. bed while Prophet s.a.w. left his house safely at night and migrated to Madinah.
Ali r.a. could have rejected the Prophet's s.a.w. request because of the consequences that could be facing for protecting the Prophet s.a.w. But he did not. For he knew this is Allah's s.w.t. plan and he will surely be save in Allah's s.w.t. hand.
INFAQ 2 - One of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. devoted right-hand men
Being the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., Ali r.a. was always ready by Prophet's s.a.w. side. No doubt Prophet s.a.w. trusted him with a few Amanah.
Ali r.a. was so reliable and trustworthy that Prophet s.a.w. designated him as one of the scribes who would write down the text of the Holy Quran.
Ali r.a. was also the one who wrote down the Treaty of Hudaibiyah, the peace treaty between Prophet s.a.w. and Quraish.
Ali r.a. had the choice to be a normal practising Muslim. But he chose to go beyond that. He chose to be someone of value in the eyes of Allah s.w.t. He chose to carry the Amanah that were given to him despite knowing people could easily accuse him if something goes wrong in the writings. But his belief that doing everything for the course of the religion, love for the Prophet s.a.w. and ultimately as a servant
of Allah s.w.t., he will surely be save in the hands of Allah s.w.t.
INFAQ 3 - Involvement in battles for the sake of Islam
Ali r.a. was well known of his bravery. He participated in almost all the battles against the unbelievers during the time of the Prophet s.a.w. except for the Battle of Tabuk. He was always standing steadfast and unwavering beside Prophet s.a.w.
Among Ali's r.a. achievements were:
- In the Battle of the Trench, Ali r.a. bravely defeated a prominent leader of the unbelievers called Amr Ibn Wudd
- In the Battle of Khaybar, Ali r.a. defeated the great Jewish commander Marhab
- Ali r.a. was one of the companions who stood unwavering beside Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. in the Battle of Hunain
Having family back home, Ali r.a. could always be afraid of leaving his love ones behind if he martyr in the battles. But that did not waver him. He still chose to be involved in the battles for the sake of the religion and leave the rest in the hands of Allah s.w.t.
