Pilgrimage to Mecca, also known as hajj, is an obligation for a Muslim who is physically and financially able. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and for most Muslims, it is the dream of a lifetime.
Particularly for Hajj, it needs to be paid for with pure savings and because you cannot borrow money to perform Hajj, Muslims are encouraged to save and invest for this expense as soon as possible.

The cost for travel for Hajj and Umrah is often a challenge for many as the estimated price for a standard Umrah package ranges from $2100 to $7000 per person and a standard Hajj package range from $9000 to $14,000 per person. It depends on the packages available, the requirements and the prices may change over the years too.
Especially when you have to travel with family, the amount can be quite huge for one to bear and hence one is encourage to save and invest for this purpose.

This is a new savings and syariah compliant investment portfolio under Financial Alliance Pte Ltd. Recently launch in September 2019.
Compared to saving it into Islamic banks ( Maybank or CIMB) which grows only 0.5% to 2% yearly. This investment portfolio has a target returns of 3% to 6%. Returns are paid off quarterly.
Is this investment safe?
The portfolio focuses on managing the downside risks. This is reflected in the portfolio composition which will at any one time consist of 70 - 100% in a sukuk fund with 0 - 30% exposed to a relatively more volatile equity- related fund. This structure will help to manage the downside risk although not necessarily eliminate it altogether.
As such it is important to note that this portfolio does not guarantee the expected returns and there is a risk of losing part of the invested capital throughout the investment period, thus delaying the actual date whereby the total accumulated amount is sufficient to pay for Hajj & Umrah.
All funds are regulated by Monetary Authority of Singapore ( MAS ).
Is this investment tied up for a period chosen?
The portfolio is very flexible as the investments are not tied down over the chosen investment period. For example, if there is a sudden need to withdraw all or part of the portfolio, the investor may do so. The investor may also do either the hajj or umrah using this portfolio and not necessarily both. For example, the investor may decide to save solely for his/her hajj because he/she has done the Umrah already.
