Guide us to the straight path - the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked (Your) anger or of those who are astray. Ameen.

Last week I have shared with you on the virtues of Surah Al-Baqarah. Today, I would like to share with you the virtues of my personal favourite Surah and that is Surah Al-Kahfi.

Why is Surah Al-Kahfi my personal favourite?

This Surah gives the message that those who believe in Allah, and ask for protection from Him, He gives them the best protection the likes of which the world has never seen.

Surah Al-Kahfi is the 18th chapter of Al-Qur’an. It tells the story of the believers in ancient time, Ashabul Kahfi, who when received the message of Truth, accepted it without doubt. However, they were to face retaliation from the society they lived in and hence the flee from the city and found protection in a cave where Allah s.w.t. gave them sleep that lasted for centuries and till then their whole city had converted into believers.

"Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahfi on the day of Jummah will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next" [Al-Jaami]

"One who memorized the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahfi will be secure against the Dajjal (Anti-Christ)" [Muslim]

Besides giving the message of Allah protecting those in miraculous ways who stick to righteousness and stay on the right path, the Surah Al-Kahfi also comes with a variety of virtues. It helps one expatiate from sins, gain blessings of Allah s.w.t. and prepare one’s self for the end of days. Therefore, every Muslim man and woman must try getting into the habit of reciting Surah Al Kahfi on regular bases.

This is the truth about the book of Allah s.w.t. The more you get closer to it, the more surprise you will unveil and the more astonish you will be of Allah's s.w.t. greatness.

Scholars from Yemen & Egypt

Did you manage to attend the events when Habib Umar was around? If you missed that, PERGAS will also be organising a series of events for another world re-known scholar.

The second scholar that will be gracing our shores will be Shaykh Ali Gomaa. He will be hosted by PERGAS for a series of events over 10 days.

Who is Shaykh Ali Gomaa?

Shaykh Ali Gomaa is the former Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He is one of the foremost Islamic scholars in the world. Despite retiring from the post of Grand Mufti of Egypt in 2013, Gomaa has remained active on many fronts and his counsel is more in demand than ever before.

Unlike Habib Umar, Syakh Ali Gomaa is lesser known in this region however as a former Grand Mufti of Egypt his credentials are "mashallah". For those whom have studied in Al-Azhar would have heard of this man.

Ustaz Hasbi, Presiden of PERGAS mentioned in one our meetings. If all the books on hadith is burned to the ground, Syakh Ali Gomaa is the go to person for reference. Imagine the amount of knowledge he has memorised and taught over the years. Mashallah.

One of his great achievements while he was a Mufti of Egypt back then was to revolutionise the process of issuing fatwas in Egypt transforming Dar al-Ifta from a institution that was the extension of one individual (the Grand Mufti) to a modern institution with a fatwa council and a system of checks and balances.

Kematian merupakan saat yang sangat menyedihkan dan penuh dengan emosi. Namun, ia juga boleh dipenuhi dengan harapan dan belas kasihan. Umat Islam percaya bahawa kematian adalah pemergian dari kehidupan dunia ini, tetapi bukan akhir dari kewujudan seseorang. Sebaliknya, kehidupan yang kekal akan datang, dan kita berdoa agar rahmat Allah SWT berada bersama mereka yang telah kembali ke Rahmatullah, dengan harapan mereka akan mendapat kedamaian dan kebahagiaan kelak.

Ia sangat mudah untuk menyuruh mereka bertenang dan bersabar apabila sedang menghadapi kematian, tetapi tanpa ilmu pengetahuan dan panduan yang betul, seringkali ahli keluarga akan menghadapi masalah. Dalam sesetengah situasi, anggota keluarga akan membuat keputusan yang tidak sesuai yang boleh menyebabkan lebih banyak kesulitan.

Whenever someone ask me about what I do, often I answered as such, “I help my Muslim Brothers and Sisters planned their wealth to achieve barakah in life and ensure that their families are secured when they leave this world in a manner that my God ( Allah swt ) will be pleased with them”.
