Week by week we have been introducing to you some exemplary figures, during Prophet Muhammad's s.a.w. time, whose Infaq and Sedekah activities were beyond extraordinary and miraculous. We hope in one way or another, it has inspire you to become like them.

But what motivated them to act in such a way that to a certain extent they would willingly give up everything for the sake of Allah s.w.t and the religion and left nothing for themselves?

Previously, I have highlighted that working towards molding the Characteristic of Muttaqin in themselves and working towards earning Allah's promise to Multiple Rewards and Wealth were among the factors that have driven these figures to be able to act in such a way.

But I also believe, as an exemplary figures that are very close to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and who have just received the guidance from Allah s.w.t., they certainly do not want themselves to be contaminated or polluted again with bad influences or characteristics. Thus, being spared from the characteristic of a Munafiq could be another factor that has motivated them to have the strong will to spend for the sake for Allah s.w.t.

Surah AT-TAWBAH, verse 54

And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling. 

Surah AL-MUNAFIQUN, verse 7

They are the ones who say, "Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disband." And to Allah belongs the depositories of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.

Hypocrisy (Munafiq) is a serious sickness. It is the deadly disease of the soul and it is the greatest crime in Islam. It means making an outward display of Islam whilst inwardly concealing Kufur (disbelief). Hypocrisy is more dangerous than Kufur and the punishment for it is more severe because its harmful effects are greater. Hence Allah s.w.t. mentioned that He will put the hypocrites in the lowest level of Hell. Because of the corruption of their hearts, the hypocrites are the most averse of mankind to the religion of Allah s.w.t.

Thus, no doubt the exemplary figures of Islam were seriously protecting themselves, or I should say their hearts, from this deadly disease by busying themselves with the Infaq and charity acts.

Banyuwangi is located in the Eastern most of the Java Island. Just across the sea is Bali & Lombok.

In this particular location, the land is wakf by the villagers in the area and they need help with the cost of building the Masjid which can serve up to 500 families ( 2000 villagers based on 4 person per house ) in that location. The land area is about 400 sqm.

After the completion of mosque, the local imam and villagers will be managing the day to day operations of the mosque. 

This location is also where our yearly Qurban operations are for Banyuwangi, hence we will be visiting it yearly for the next few years to see the upkeep of the mosque. 

Funds needed: SGD $98,000

Project estimated to complete within 6 months to 1 year from start of project.
Start of project - Only happens when funds are sufficient.

If you wish to contribute to this project, you may wakf as follows
i) $50

ii) $100 for 1 name.
ii) $500 for 5 names.
iii) $1000 for 10 names

Names will be printed on a board and featured on one of the mosques wall.

You may also wish to wakf $50 however we will not be able to print the wakif name due to insufficient space.

Currently the Masjid have not been named yet and the villagers have agreed to allow the wakif that contributes minimally SGD $65,000 to give its name. We will includes 2 ticket fee to fly to Banyuwangi, Indonesia with one night stay for the opening ceremony. This will be updated closer to the completion of the mosque.

While there are people who struggle with money to attend classes or courses, there are also people who have money but have no idea how to help another. Hence this fund is to match such people to ensure that those who struggle are able to attend such classes.

Secondly, the fees to teachers. Often we had this complains from teachers that they are not paid market rate or their students keep asking for lower fees. Just imagine this, it started out with $30 per month and because of inability to pay, the student request for $20 per month. So imagine if you multiply that to 40 students. From $30 x 40 students = $1200, it reduces to $20 x 40 students = $800 per month. We have seen this happening and eventually the teachers will be less motivated to teach and will move on to other jobs. And sadly such vicious cycles repeats and the costs of living doesn't go down. So yes, the second purpose is to protect the livelihood of the teachers.

Thirdly. In general this can greatly subsidise the fees for various organisers to conduct their courses. Yes we will work with other organisers to help subsidised course fees so that everyone in general can benefit from it.
