Islam has always emphasize on cleanliness, be it on oneself or the surrounding. That is why we can find purification is one of the central theme with regard to the teachings of Islam. Our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. love to spend a life with cleanness and used to love good scent. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. on waking up he would relieve himself, perform Wudhu and apply fragrance to his clothing. He also used fragrance at night, particularly for Jummah prayers on Fridays.

 

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. always loved to use fragrance like Musk. Musk is a heavy base note scent that is usually compared with woodsy and earthy smells. It was originally the name of the odor coming from a male musk deer, from which it was harvested.

 

When the deer died, the sack would be taken and dried to produce something called a “musk pod.” Once that was broken open, you’d find the fragrant musk grain, which would then be soaked in alcohol, producing the scent we would refer to as "Musk".

 

While many are busy trying to follow the Sunnah by putting on Musk, there is another frangrance of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. that many failed to realise. While the first frangrance of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the Musk, the other is his moral frangrance.

The life of the beloved Prophet s.a.w. has always been between two kinds of fragrance, the Musk and his moral fragrance. Moral fragrance is a fragrance which he carried in his heart and that flowed in his blood. It is the fragrance of the revelation, the Sunnah and the Da’wah to worshiping Allah, the Almighty.

This fragrance of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the fragrance that we will smell till the end of time, although he is no longer in this world.
