those who are astray. Ameen.
Did you know there is no direct mentioned of Wakaf in the Quran??
Instead, wakaf is mentioned in several of Prophet s.a.w. hadiths. One example is the hadith about the land owned by Sayyidina Umar Ibn Al-Khattab r.a. in Khaybar. Sayyidina Umar Ibn Al-Khattab r.a. got a land in Khaybar and so he went to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. asking for advice about it. The Prophet s.a.w. then advised him to make the property inalienable and give the proceeds to charity. This instruction is a clear
form of Wakaf.
Another example is, according to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., “When a man dies, only three deeds will survive him: continuing alms, profitable knowledge and a child praying for him.” It is noteworthy to highlight that Wakaf is a form of continuing alms.
One thing to remember, even though there is no direct mentioned of Wakaf in the Quran, one must not undermine its importance. Because Wakaf creates great benefits for both the endower and society.
Through Wakaf, an important and pious deed will survive the endower till after his/her death. The establishment of Wakaf can also help to offer support to the community and endower. The best thing is, Wakaf donations can be made in the name of a deceased person and thus help them to achieve the continuous reward that will benefit them greatly.
So what are you waiting for?? Let's browse through the list of Wakaf activities we have to offer and engage ourself with it. May Allah s.w.t. blessed each one of our good intention. Ameen.
