Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. All praises is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds - The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompose. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path - the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked (Your) anger or of those
who are astray. Ameen.
Making sacrifices forms an important part of our life in a Multi-religious and Multi-cultural country as to foster better understanding among each other. Making sacrifices in fostering better understanding in order to achieve a bigger betterment in the long run is our hope today as a Muslim especially in combatting the issue of Islamophobia that is happening around the world.
Nevertheless, before we are able to do so, it is important from time to time that we remind ourselves of the reason why we learn about sacrifices and its importance especially inconjunction with the Eid Adha celebration.
Making sacrifices should not only be confined to the slaughtering of livestock to mark the celebration. We, Muslims, must learn to extend our sacrifices towards our behaviour and efforts too. This is important as to revive back the true message of Islam as a religion of peace and not a tyrannical religion that has long been erased due to the propaganda of contemporary groups such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, LGBT movement and etc.
Therefore, Eid Adha is the best time for all Muslims to reflect on the significance of making sacrifices and to learn to appreciate their blessings in light of the sufferings of other Muslims in war-torn regions around the world. May Allah s.w.t. never stop giving us His Hidayah in this life.
