Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. All praises is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds - The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompose. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path - the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked (Your) anger or of those who
are astray. Ameen.
It is very pleased to see that our current Muslims understand that Waqaf goes beyond than just giving a piece of land. Nowadays, we see so many Waqaf projects being carried out. From building water pumps to provide water supply to buying chairs for in need congregation in the mosque to housing projects to house those who are affected by natural disasters.
There is another area that caught my attention that need to be addressed and that Waqaf can play a big role in it. That is financing higher education.
Pursuing higher education is really a big deal. It's cost has prevented students, especially those who are self-financed, from accessing such learning environments. And Waqaf can be seen as an alternative solution to relieve such a situation.
Do you know there is a Malaysian Waqaf universities and the Turkish Foundation Universities that uses Waqaf in assisting financing their universities?
Waqaf can be significant in providing financial assistance to students or universities in strengthening their academic quality. Tawhidic epistemology together with morality and ethics can help influence Waqaf donors or founders to donate their wealth and property to enrich and sustain universities and higher education. Channelling Waqaf to universities can benefit many aspect of the community. From employing qualified educators to providing quality facilities to moulding excellent
graduates.
Allah s.w.t. will not impose something that will not bring benefits to humankind.
