Alhamdulillah all praises to Allah s.w.t. that we were greeted with a soothing news during the past weekend. This year the doors of the Mosques islandwide are going to be opened to welcome the Muslim community for the Ramadan congregational prayers, the Terawih Prayer, with Covid-19 measures in place.
The rule is, basically, each Muslim will be entitled to 1 opportunity every 10 days to perform the Terawih prayer. Thus, that will make each Muslim having 3 chances to perform Terawih prayer throughout the month of Ramadan.
While during the night of power, that is the last 10 nights of Ramadan where Muslims are in search of the Lailatul Qadar, each Muslim will be entitled to 2 chances to perform the Qiyamullail.
Although it may seem insufficient for us to immerse ourselves with the spirit of Ramadan with only 3 chances of Terawih prayer and 2 chances of Qiyamullail, we should still be thankful to Allah s.w.t. for giving the authority the Ilham or idea to create this opportunity for us to come back to our Mosques again during Ramadan
I hope we will not be that ungrateful Muslim who will be going around judging the authority's decision. For Allah s.w.t. says “O you who have faith! Avoid much suspicion. Indeed some suspicions are sins.” [Surah Hujurat:12] Have faith in our authority. They are trying their best to ensure that we will be able to enjoy our Ramadan like before.
Furthermore, how can we as Muslim uplift the spirit of Ramadan when our hearts are still filled with ungratefulness towards Allah's favours? For Allah s.w.t. has always asked "Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?" [Surah Ar-Rahman: 16]
Let's wash off the ungratefulness from our hearts not only during Ramadan but as long as we live. The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. once said "He who does not thank people, does not thank Allah" (Ahmad, Tirmidhi).
