Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. All praises is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds - The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompose. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path - the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked (Your) anger or of those who
are astray. Ameen.
If we look at the current reality, we cannot deny that the Muslim world is among the most backward nations especially countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Comoros, Djibouti, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and many others. Poverty, lack of resources be it food or daily necessities, lack of shelters and even peace and the decreasing numbers of new population are the current problem of our Muslim countries.
So, what is the remedy Islam has to offer to overcome these problems? And what role the institution of Zakat, Infaq, Wakaf and Sedeqah may play to alleviate these problems?
The institution of Zakat, Infaq, Wakaf and Sedeqah can play a very huge role in overcoming these problems in our Muslim countries. These money, if properly channeled, could aid our Muslim brothers and sisters just like the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and the Khulafa' where Baitul Mal plays a huge role in helping the needy and the development and progress of the country and the people.
If only the awareness of the importance of Zakat, Infaq, Wakaf and Sedeqah reach the hearts of our Muslim brothers and sisters and actions are quickly plan and taken to help these countries, Insyallah these problems could be lessen down and infact demolish bit by bit.
During the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and the Khulafa', the awareness were not the same. Their awareness of the importance of Zakat, Infaq, Wakaf and Sedeqah really touched and pierced through their hearts that they could really feel the people's suffering and end up giving up everything they have to help the Muslim community. Literally everything!!
Unfortunately, the many calls for help from the Non-governmental organizations through newspapers, televisions, radios and media socials just pass by us without notice. If we do notice, the calls are of the concern to us. This is very saddening. We are very complacent and comfortable with our own life that other people's life are of no concern to us.
In this month of Ramadhan, let us sit and reflect what have we done to help our Muslim brothers and sisters who are in need. Stand and take some actions. For this will be your share to gain the Jannah, insyallah.
