Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You in any way, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know. Ameen.
Belief in the existence and oneness of Allah s.w.t. is the first Pillar of Iman. This is the ultimate component that differentiate the Muslim and the Non-Muslim.
Back then, when our mums or Asatizahs say we need to believe in Allah or Allah is there or Allah will be angry if we do not perform out solat or Allah dislike those who do not observe clealiness, we will automatically believe and react as per say without any hesitation.
But today, in the world where children are able to obtain informations from a lot of sources, exposed to science and experiments, their thinking and reasoning functions started to operate at totally a new level.
They start to ask philosophical questions on the existence of Allah. Where is Allah? Why cant we see Allah? How do we know Allah is there? These children want a concrete answer, they want a proof.
But how do we tackle these questions?
When talking to them, make it simple. Talk in terms they can easily understand, not with big words that might overwhelm them. The concept of God is straightforward, not complex. For instance, point to an object e.g. a chair and say, “Who do you think invented that?” Then move on to explain that everything has a creator, which leads us to other things, seen and unseen.
Belief in Allah is about belief in the Unseen. We can’t see Him, but we can see and experience His creations. Just as the existence of the chair and other objects prove the existence of the creator, so does the existence of objects in this universe (often refered to as signs of Allah) prove the existence of Allah, The One True God.
When they get familiar with the concept of The Creator, they will be ready to look around and inspect how everything was created, and why. That’s when you swoop in with as much interesting material as you can that can make them better understand.
These materials can include kids’ Islamic magazines, Islamic stories for kids, books that contribute in learn Quran for kids, Quranic miracles stories, prophets’ stories for kids, cartoons, or you can sign them up for online Quran classes for kids to help them discover the simplest form of Quran teaching by professionals.
