Published: Thu, 07/04/13

All praises be to Allah swt, Lord of all Universe. The Most Merciful and the Most Kind. Blessings be to our Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.

Assalammulaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

Ya Allah, although Ramadhan is just a few days from now, let this heart beat and allow these eyes and heart see and feel this blessed month again...

We are just a few more days to Ramadhan. On this weekend (Saturday & Sunday), there are more than 15 events going on from Carnivals to Syarahans and Majlis Selawat. Also included in our list is the Ramadan Launch by MUIS. I hope you begin to understand how fortunate we are to be in a place that have many activities for our Muslim community here. This may not be the same overseas. So dear Bros and Sisters, let's take advantage and fully support the events that are going on here in Singapore.

May Allah swt allow us and other event organisers to continue organising events and courses through out the year and more so that more and more people can reap the benefits of such activities and ultimately be in constant search for the truth.

What's happening?

Last week we announced our Musollah project and masyallah we have received a good response from the number of volunteers to sponsors. Later below we will be sharing the details of what we will be doing so that you come with a clearer picture.

This week also we will let our intern Blogger, Hanis Khairunnisa recommend to you which events to navigate to as an individual or group / family.

Pre-Ramadhan Prep

Ramadhan is just peeking around the corner! So you know what this means - it's time to prep yourselves and your loved ones for this upcoming blessed month.

We clean our houses, buy new clothes and learn new recipes to get ready for Hari Raya - similarly, one should take the time to start anew for Ramadhan.

And what better way than to start on the last weekend before it begins?

There are tons of special events lined up for you, your friends and families this coming 6th and 7th of July.

For those who are seeking to “level up” your Islamic knowledge, then heading for “The Hikam - Life’s Wisdom: A Manual for the Path to Allah” would be a great way to start.

2701_lar

It is a 2 days discourse held at Madrasah Aljunied starting on the 6th of July and starts at 10am. What one learns in this is the sacred text of Hikam of Ibn Ataillah:

“The Hikam is basically a series of aphorisms for the spiritual seeker, touching on faith, our relationship with Allah, purification of the soul, proper manners for one on ‘the path’, and so on. Each line is succinct, eloquent, and carries within it so many layers of depth and meaning.”

- Taken from http://cairocaprices.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/the-hikam/

As the wise Hamza Yusuf once said, “Ancients wrote sentences that could be commented on in a book. Moderns write books that can be summed up in a sentence.”

In the past, books such as these would not be read unaccompanied by a dedicated teacher. You can expect to be in the hands of one this Saturday, as the blessed Shaykh Walead Mosaad will be your guide.

Shaykh Walead Mosaad is an educator and researcher of many accolades, and he has completed degrees in al-Azhar university and the University of Liverpool, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter in the UK.

If you’re looking to bring your children or your whole family out for some fun, you can head down to Madrasah Alsagoff for their Pasar Amal taking place on the 6th of July, from 9am to 2pm.

There will be lots of food for you, from Burgers to Pastries and many many more – plus there will be activities lined up for those looking to whip up something special for future Iftaars – a cooking demo will be held by Us. Siti Rahmah Abd. Hamid.

Mmmmmm...

Yum! Buying food and giving charity at the same time... tastes like heaven.

Once you’re all filled up, don’t stop there - push on and bring more smiles to your little ones at Madrasah Aljunied’s family carnival! It’s completely free of charge, filled with loads of entertainment for both the young and the young at heart.

The highlights of this event include:

- Free Health Screening and Talk (important for all)

- Grand Family Challenge

- Carnival Games for Children AND Adults (yay!)

- Ramadhan Bites

- Qasidah

This carnival would be especially beneficial for children, who learn through play.

After a day of recreation, it’s time to put one’s feet up. But you can relax and prepare for Ramadhan at the same time – at Bedok Stadium.

Dr. Asri Zainal Abidin, Ustaz Fahrurrazi as well as Ustaz Syed Norhisyam will be welcoming in the month of Ramadhan with beneficial reminders in their talks as well as a Majlis Selawat, starting at7.30pm.

All of us need a prompt once in a while, so be sure to jot this down in your calendar.

The weekend is not over yet!

Sunday will not be left out. At 9:30am, Masjid En-Naeem will be launching the Touch of Ramadan Celebrations.

The theme this year is “Sebarkan Rahmah, Sinari Kehidupan dengan Solat dan Al-Quran” (Radiate Blessings, Brighten Lives Through Prayer & Al-Quran).

Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim will join Muis President, Haji Mohd Alami Musa and Mufti, Sohibus Samahah Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram at the launch event.

Finally, taking place at Al Falah Mosque, from 8am to 12pm, is the Siri 22: Majlis Selawat ke Atas Rasullulah s.a.w.

This event will be graced by Ustaz Mohamad Hasbi Bin Haji Hassan, Ustaz Mohamed Feisal, Ustaz Muhammad Zahid Mohd Zin and Ustaz Ismail Hashim (Imam | Pegawai Dakwah Masjid).

Also, there will be a mass Solat Hajat taking place at 9am, be sure not to miss that!

From Anas bin Malik, Nabi s.a.w said:

“Whosoever say the selawat upon me, Allah will reward him with 10 blessings, 10 of his sins will be forgiven and he will be exalted by 10 degrees.” (al-Bukhari)

Do you have a new born child this year?

Aqiqah is a Sunnah Muakkadah (confirmed sunnah). If the guardian of the child is capable of slaughtering two sheep for a baby boy and one sheep for a female child, he should do it.

The Prophet (Blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said : “A baby is being pledged for his AQIQAH, sacrifice is made for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and a name is given him". One may slaughter three sheep for his son and daughter . If one cannot slaughter on the seventh day, one may slaughter on the fourteenth day or on the twenty-first day. If one is not capable of doing so, then one may slaughter any time before the puberty of the child. After puberty, the person should slaughter for himself/herself. Allah knows best.

Registration for Qurban / Aqiqah in Indonesia is OPEN NOW! Aqiqah fees is inclusive of cooking and distributing to the needy. For further enquiries, do call us at 6871 8744.
