Assalammulaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

Ramadhan is finally here. The often common sights like people hunting for food the last minute before break fast and solat terawih becomes so obvious for the last few days. Furthermore our office is at the heart of Bussorah Street where you can see so much happenings.

Let us remember that Ramadhan is not just about being hungry. It is beyond that. We just received an email from Ustaz Mizi from Safinah reminding everyone that it starts with intention. What do you want to achieve this Ramadhan?

- Complete Reading the Quran
- Not miss any Terawih and Qiyam session
- Establish lost ties with Family and Friends
- Remove hatred from within...
- Stop Smoking.
- Stop other bad habits - watching bad stuff on the internet

Whatever it is open or close, only you know yourself. Do set the intentions..

Also in last Sunday's Majlis Selawat ke atas Rasulullah saw, Ustaz Feisal reminded us to not complicate your goals and strive for easy ones first. Then attempt the harders ones.

Example if you have been reciting 10 surahs over and over the last few years. Why don't we consider just memorising one or two more surahs this Ramadhan. Keep it simple and real.

Ramadhan is also the month where Allah swt will reward those who believe and trust in Allah swt words. So do not worry so much about losing your wealth, ensure Zakat Wealth (2.5%) and Zakat Harta is paid up if you qualify for it. Donate as much as you can. If you used to give 10% away, try increasing to 11%. Just a little bit more would do and if you can give more, please do. And if you don't have wealth, contribute your energy as much as you can. May Allah swt reward you in this life and the here after.

So what's happening this week?

Musollah Clean Up

We'll be posting about the progress of the Musollah Clean up below.

So .. read on

Mass Musollah Clean Up

Volunteers

In total we have more than 160 volunteers. Unfortunately we cannot take anymore volunteers due to the overwhelming requests.

We have also manage to assign the various musollahs to the groups. Each group of volunteers will be covering 3-5 musollahs islandwide.

We have also increased the number of musollah to cover from 100 to 150 musollahs. But there is an issue, we don’t have enough vehicles and drivers to cover them all. Based on the draft assignments, we have assign those with cars to cover the northern, western, southern and eastern parts of Singapore. Whereas the central areas will be covered by foot. Ideally if we can get 10-12 more cars and drivers this would cover it as majority of the Musollahs are in the central region.

I have a car and wish to participate.. How can I do that?

Email to fadzuli@islamicevents.sg by Friday, 12 July 2013. We need your details so that we can assign you the groupings as soon as possible.

Hijab Hijrah 2013 / 1434H

All your life, you were never taught or told to don the Hijab. So you go to school and go to work without one. Then suddenly an incident in your life happen and this attracted you to the deen. After learning much about the deen, you decided to submit to Allah swt by obeying his instruction and that for the ladies is to cover yourself up.

The moment you don the hijab, you get stares in the office. People whom you seem close to before, start to distant from you as if you are like an alien. The privileges that you had before have also been taken away. You feel as though you are a completely new person and yet you are a stranger to an environment that you once knew.

Has it been challenging for you when you started to don the hijab?

What's written above isn't something new. Infact it had happen to Muslims since the Prophet's saw time. At that time injustice towards women were rampant. Baby girls being buried alive and womens stripped from their rights. Islam came to free this women and gave them rights. We should be thankful that in the past there were many who sacrificed themselves and even got killed just to uplift the values that Islam have for women.

You are not alone in this journey. In this forum style talk, we are going to get to listen to various speakers coming from various background from one who have worked in the corporate sector to a celebrity that have decided that enough is enough. Let's submit to Allah's will.

Its Hijab Hijrah 2013.. Be inspired by these dynamic ladies who are successful both in their careers and their family life.

Do you have a new born child this year?

Aqiqah is a Sunnah Muakkadah (confirmed sunnah). If the guardian of the child is capable of slaughtering two sheep for a baby boy and one sheep for a female child, he should do it.

The Prophet (Blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said : “A baby is being pledged for his AQIQAH, sacrifice is made for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and a name is given him". One may slaughter three sheep for his son and daughter . If one cannot slaughter on the seventh day, one may slaughter on the fourteenth day or on the twenty-first day. If one is not capable of doing so, then one may slaughter any time before the puberty of the child. After puberty, the person should slaughter for himself/herself. Allah knows best.

Registration for Qurban / Aqiqah in Indonesia is OPEN NOW! Aqiqah fees is inclusive of cooking and distributing to the needy. For further enquiries, do call us at 6871 8744.

MUEZZIN: Heard & Not Seen

Muezzin: Heard And Not Seen

“O believers, when proclamation is made for prayer on the Day of Congregation, hasten to God’s remembrance and leave business aside; that is better for you, if you did but know.”  (Quran 62:9)

The Muezzins or more known as the Bilal is among the important posts and traditions that exist today and often they are almost being unappreciated for the work they do. Some of our friends came together and came out with this video.
