WHERE WILL MY WEALTH GO TO WHEN I PASSED ON?

Have you really asked yourself this question? No doubt its not easy to answer but it's a very important question for every single Muslim be it young or old need to think about. Especially when you have started working and acquiring savings and wealth.

The answer is subjective to the individual age and situation.

You can still be single, living with your parents but along the way you manage to acquire a substantial amount of wealth.

Or you can be married but you don't have children.

Or you may have married, divorced, married again and divorce again and having children from each marriages. Wow this can be very complex as you go on.

Honestly there are many scenarios that one can be in and you must understand that this cannot be taken lightly because a wrong step may cost you or your family more than you think.

Example.

A married couple do not have children hence they choose to adopt a child. So they treated the child well like their own child. When the child grows up, he contributed back to the family well being. Sent the father to hospital when he was sick and being filial to the mother too.

However one day tragedy struck, both parents passed on due to an accident. According to faraidh, this son will not get a single cent although he was brought up from young. So the wealth is then distributed to the next closest family member.

For the Father's
>> Distributed to the brothers and sisters and parents (if they are still alive)

For the Mother
>> Similar to the above

Hence this adopted son then become unhappy, "I took care of my adopted parents when they were sick and where were their siblings" and so begins battles and fights. The adopted son took on advise of lawyers and brought the family to court just to fight the battles to win his share of the wealth.

In the above case, usually it will be litigated and the adopted son may win and have part of the wealth. Usually the lawyers or advisers will ask the family to give it as a gift to the adopted son.

Honestly all that above could be dealt with more peacefully without any unhappyness because many forget that before Faraidh, there are 4 more things that is required to be done and among them is the execution of the WILL.

Today to get a WILL done may costs you around $500 to $10,000 or more depending on your net worth and the lawyer or professional you engage in. But what's $500 compared to the thousands of dollars you need to spend on court battles. it might even wiped out all the inheritance money. So think about it, instead of the wealth going to your family, its going to the lawyers or litigators pockets. And do you really want this to happen?
