ISLAMIC FUNERAL & DEATH RITES COURSE

Will you be the last person to bathe your parents or your children?

Death

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

When the time arises would you be the last son or daughter whom will bathe your parents?

Will you be the parent whom will bathe your children if they will leave this world first before you?

Just ask your family members, does anyone of them knows how to perform the ritual bathes of the mayit?

In the past this is a norm for families that lives in the kampongs. At least 1 or 2 people in family will know about it, however the situation have change when we started living in HDB blocks & condominiums. Just imagine how many people in 1 HDB block are Muslim families and knows how to perform this task?

Take note that this knowledge is Fardhu Kifayah, it means that not everyone will need to know however it is known fact that slowly this knowledge is being loss. It used to be at least 1 out of 10 people who know how perform this. Today the ratio is 1:500 as we rely heavily on external services to provide this sevice.

Let's not let this knowledge be just someone else to know, at least one person in a household should have the knowledge to apply this when the time comes.
