When asked why they wanted to organised this event? Their answer was simple..

Muslims today are not showing a good example to their own Muslim Brothers and Sisters. What more towards Non Muslims out there. Wow! That struck me while sitting down in a meeting with them.

Well a lot of thing came to my mind. People tend to perceive wearing the jubah and the songkok for Men is as though you are an alim and such.

In my tour in Surabaya, it was not just for fashion sake. Infact for those who understand the true purpose of wearing appropriately could just prevent you from doing evil and bad things.

Example.

If a friend asked you to follow him to a discotheque. Initially you said yes, while at the door, the songkong you are wearing reminded you that Allah is constantly watching over you regardless if you are doing good or bad. How would you think and react at that point of time.

As you can see, wearing a hijab and wearing appropriately does not guarantee one to be an alim or a good person. However by wearing appropriately is a constant reminder that we are adhering and obeying Allah swt commands and prevent you from doing evil and bad things.

So let's learn more about our dressing and fashion in Islam. Insyallah.
