When Your Hear Halal, what do you understand?
Most people will generally refer it to food and if you are in Singapore, your mind will think about MUIS too. It is because we always look for the Halal certificates at the Food centres or the restaurants we visit.
However Halal is beyond food. We probably have heard this popular term Halal Hotel in recent years and it is design to support the Muslims travellers' lifestyle. We want hotel with Halal Food, toilets with bedit, musollahs, qiblat arrows on the ceiling of each hotel room and so on. You will be surprised what hotels are doing these days to attract the 2 billion Muslim population.
Beyond hotels and food, there is a term coined as Halal Economy. The demand for Islamic Banking and the call for Dinar Dirham as currencies are also increasing.
Whether we like or not, someday each of everyone of us will be exposed to the revival of this practices and as long Muslim Consumer demands for it, the industry will also be adapting to it.
