Mdm Khatijah (not her real name) lost a husband in a motorbike accident while she was pregnant with her third child. Things started to change after the demise of her husband, leaving her to single-handedly care for her three young children.
Despite all the challenges, she has managed to pull through by working night shifts while her children are asleep under the care of their grandmother. When morning comes, taking care of her children’s’ needs then becomes her focus.
These are just some of what our clients under AMP’s Adopt a Family & Youth Scheme (AFYS) have gone through. While their stories may differ, their perseverance and determination to push through their adversities and to come out stronger is common to all of them.
Tune in to MediaCorp Radio Station WARNA 94.2FM this Friday, 29 January 2016 from 8.00pm to 10.00pm for our first talkshow, where DJs Adi and Shaik will be speaking to a family under AMP's Adopt a Family & Youth Scheme (AFYS).
Listen to how the family is overcoming their struggles when they lose a father figure after a tragic road accident, leaving them in a difficult financial position and struggling to sustain their livelihood.
AFYS assists these families to regain their independence and self-reliance by equipping them with skills, helping their children through a variety of socio-educational schemes, programmes and activities, and most of all, AFYS helps to strengthen their family unit.
