Shine the Light of Hope
Mdm Su (not her real name) finally left her husband of 13 years after enduring repeated physical and mental abuse. His abuse was not limited to her, but also her children. Her second child experienced trauma and became socially withdrawn after being physically abused by his father. This prompted Mdm Su to file for divorce in 2014 in order to protect herself and her four young children.
These are just some of what our clients under AMP’s Adopt a Family & Youth Scheme (AFYS) have gone through. While their stories may differ, their perseverance and determination to push through their adversities and to come out stronger is common to all of them.
Tune in to MediaCorp Radio Station WARNA 94.2FM this Friday, 19 February 2016 from 8.00pm to 10.00pm for our third talkshow, where DJs AB Shaik and Mariam Mas'od will be speaking
to Mdm Su and her family as they recounted how the family overcome domestic violence and their financial struggles.
AFYS assists these families to regain their independence and self-reliance by equipping them with skills, helping their children through a variety of socio-educational schemes, programmes and activities, and most of all, AFYS helps to strengthen their family unit.
