In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. InshAllah this email finds you and your family in the best of health and imaan. Alhamdulillah we are entering the second week of Ramadan. All praises to Allah Most High for allowing us the opportunity to celebrate and observe another year of this blessed month.
Muslims are commanded to fast to ensure that they attain the objective mentioned by Allah (SWT), which is piety. Allah Almighty states:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you so that you may become righteous.” (Al-Baqarah, 2:183)

Piety is the highest rank for a Muslim which compels him/her in abiding Allah (SWT).
Aim to strive this Ramadan. With a very small amount of effort, such as just making a small intention or adding a few extra acts of worship, we pray that Allah (SWT) will help our hearts soften and honour us with making it easy to turn to Him and open up to Him.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah, The Exalted, are the most consistent, even if they are small.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
Ramadan is also known as the month of generosity. Indeed, Allah's generosity multiplies in Ramadan. Similarly, the Prophet's generosity increased in Ramadan. Every good deed in Ramadan carries more weight than at any other time, particularly giving. When Anas (RA) asked "What is the best charity (sadaqa) for the sake of Allah?" the Prophet (SAW) replied: "A gift in Ramadan (sadaqatun fi ramadan)."

 Our friends at Gift-A-Kurung are currently having a gift matching initiative, which aims to provide new and second hand baju kurung or baju melayu to those in need. For their second collaboration, they are helping Casa Raudha Women's Home by collecting cash donations to
purchase new Raya clothes for some 65 residents, who are mainly women and children who were abuse victims.
Everybody loves a new outfit for Eid. Imagine the smiles on their faces, knowing the community has put this together to provide for them. Gift-A-Kurung hopes to reach their target of $2000 by Thursday, for them to have enough to purchase the new Raya outfits. You may donate any amount you wish. May Allah bless your contributions to help make this project a success. Ameen.

Mosque Tech Challenge 2016
We would like to congratulate the participants of the Mosque Tech Challenge 2016 for completing the 24hr+ hackathon at Masjid Darul Ghufran yesterday! We saw many innovative and exciting ideas which were prototyped. We dua'a that the participants will be given the support and motivation they need to continue building on their ideas for the benefit of the community inshaAllah.
