Assalammualaikum wr wb, In the mids of our Qurban campaign we would love to share this knowledge that we learn through out the years performing Qurban overseas. How do one know when a Sheep or a Goat is ready to be slaughtered? For us, human beings when we reach 4 or 5 years old, our milk or baby teeth will start to drop and comes the adult teeth that we live with for the rest of our life. Similar for goats and sheeps, this is the indicator that it is ready for slaughter. For some breeds it will take 1 year for the goats to age. Other breeds may take longer. The picture above shows that all the upper teeth have dropped and adult teeth have started to grow for the bottom layer. The picture below shows all teeth that have dropped from another sheep. Qurban is not just about slaughtering an animal and provide the meat for the poor. It is more than that. One have to ensure that all the animal meets the requirements and it must be healthy else it is not fit for consumption. You can watch this video to see how the Goat’s teeth are like. Share this with your kids as we know they won’t have a chance to see it in Singapore.
