Socialthon 2017

In this new era of disruption like Uber, Grab, AirBnB, FoodPanda and lately Mobike and Obike. It has greatly changed how we lived today. Some of these changes didn't even exists in the last few years but it has greatly affected our lives. 

Similar disruptions and changes can also occur in our Social Circle. Example Islamicevents.sg even though is going to be 10 years old this year, didn't exist before and the convenience of looking for a Quran class has not be so much easier compared to the past. Similarly to many other services we interrupted like Aqiqah service, Grave cleaning services. Today you don't even have to go down to Pusara Aman or Abadi to look for the grave cleaners to clean it up for you. Its just a matter of ordering from us. 

Have you heard of Terawhere? 

It is an app that was built to connect people who are going to Terawih in Ramadan to the same mosque. Someone could just request if anybody would like hop on board their car to the same mosque. No fees involved. Its just a matter of helping someone and serving a purpose.

Yayasan MENDAKI and MENDAKI Club are organising a Socialthon 2017. Socialthon is a social hackathon which was first announced by Minister Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Chairman of Yayasan MENDAKI, in his Hari Raya speech on 15 July 2016. The intent of Socialthon is to provide platforms, networks and seed funds for young professionals and students to develop and test forward-looking concepts to address emerging community issues.
