Young Inspiring Entrepreneurs Convention: for the Halal Market

Published: Thu, 10/12/17

The Muslim consumer market is growing at a staggering pace, and the halal market is an industry that entrepreneurs cannot afford to ignore. With an estimated 23% (1.8 billion) of the global population being Muslims - a figure which is expected to exceed a quarter of the global population by 2030 - the only problem the market faces today is the shortage of supply.

The global market for halal commodities is estimated at USD2.3 trillion (excluding Islamic banking). Growing at about 20% annually, it is one of the world's fastest growing markets. With Islam being the fastest growing religion in the world, another factor that contributes to these figures is consumer confidence in halal products. Halal products and services receive positive feedback from both Muslims and non-Muslims alike; due to the increased awareness that it promotes sanitation, good hygiene practices and animal welfare in the food industries; as well as social responsibility, economic justice and ethical investing methods in other business sectors. These factors have led to the growth in the demand for halal products and services.

As Muslims become more affluent, they seek out products that better cater to their needs. Muslim youths now comprise 11% of the global population (43% are estimated to be under the age of 25). These young consumers are the future of halal consumption and are fast becoming a new outlet for growth in the market. With a rising population and higher disposable incomes, the halal market is one that businesses should not miss out on.

Who is this event for?

Targeted at the Muslim market, the Young Inspiring Entrepreneurs Convention (YIEC) serves as a platform upon which entrepreneurs and business leaders from around the region can discuss the current and emerging trends in the growing Islamic consumer market.
