consecutive year.
Previous events have drawn over 10,000 people to view the performances. This time round is known to be more spectacular!

 The environment is accorded reverence and respect in Islam. It's among Allah's marvelous master pieces. About 750 verses in the Holy Quran alluded to the many tangible and intangible benefits Man derives from it. Thus Man has a moral obligation to, not only appreciate, and sustain AllahÙs blessings.
However, Muslim Circles have not paid sufficient attention to environmental issues especially in light of pertinent contemporary challenges such as climate change, and water, food and energy security.
Environmental awareness amongst Muslims is low and there remains an opportunity to revive the Islamic environmental ethics fully into the psyche and hearts of Muslims.
There is hence a need advocate for a greater sense of environmental awareness and action amongst Muslims – to complement and parallel national and global efforts as well as provide a basis of understanding Islam holistically amongst Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
This event is organised in support of International Day of Climate Action. All are welcome to come

Liberalising Islam?
Of late, a movement calling itself Liberal Islam has come to the fore to challenge traditional mainstream ideas about the Islamic creed (Aqidah), about the proper relationship between Islam and other religions, about how the Quran needs to be understood and re-interpreted to make it more relevant to the times and about how Islam needs to be reformed to meet present challenges.
While these ideas seem appealing to some Muslims who are trying to find ways to argue that Islam is still relevant for modern times, Liberal Islam represents a viewpoint which in fact goes against many of the precepts and fundamentals of Islam as a complete and comprehensive way of life.
This talk would briefly identify and analyse the principles behind the Islam Liberal movement providing some context from which this movement sprang vis-à-vis the development of ideas in Islamic thought. This talk will suggest that Muslims in Singapore need to be wary, not only of the ideas propounded by Liberal Islam but also be cognizant of the implications of these ideas insofar as they undermine the Islamic Aqidah so treasured by the world's ummah.
