Know Allah - Al-Fattah (The Opener)

This week's khutbah encourages us to internalise and reflect upon one of the name of Allah, Al-Fattah.

· The beautiful names of Allah (Asma' al-Husna) will guide us in our character and personality as Muslims who are concious of Allah.

· The internalisation of 'Al-Fattah' will make our faith to Allah grow stronger.

· The name of Allah - Al-Fattah - shows that Allah will always open His doors of mercy and forgiveness to His servants.

The Emergence of the Secularised Muslim

This topic has been around a while lately. Hence Bro Abdul Halim Abdul Karim wrote in to us recently and also published this in facebook to share his thoughts, findings and at the same giving us an alarm to be wary of mistakes that we might make.

We readily admit that we live in a secular world. But are we really aware of the nature of secularism and the secularizing process? Do we know how these adversely affect our beliefs and the way we view life as Muslims? In fact, secularisation has caused Muslims to be more confused than ever before. For instance, extolling the perceived virtue of the separation between "Church and State", some ill-informed Muslims think that secularism is to be sought after and defended. They are not aware that their very use of the term "Church and State" belies their lack of understanding of both the worldviews of Islam and of the modern West on top of their ignorance about the nature of secularism itself.
