This week's khutbah encourages us to ponder upon the phrases of love and compassion in the Holy Quran.

· Allah s.w.t. is the Most Loving and Compassionate towards His servants who always do good.

· Allah s.w.t. teaches us to speak gently and wisely to those whom we invite to do good.

Rejuvenating Faith - What really Matters.

Insha'Allah, SimplyIslam.sg is organising a special lecture event featuring the eminent As-Sayyid As-Sheikh Afeefuddin Al-Jailani (Iraq/Malaysia) and Ustadh Usama Canon (USA). Short bio of the speakers:

Sheikh Afeefuddin Al Gaylani

Born in Iraq, Sheikh Afeefuddin Al-Jailani is the 18th direct descendant of the famous Saint, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani Al-Hassani, and is the 33rd direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, salallahu alaihi wasallam. He is a leader of the Al-Qadriyah Spiritual Order and specializes in Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence), Shariah (Islamic Law) and Tasawwuf (Islamic Spirituality). He is the Head of Darul Qadriyah International and the Chairman of Al-Wariseen Trust (Malaysia) and he regularly participates in many Humanity and Islamic seminars and conferences to share the message and beauty of Islam in the Middle East, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Sri Lanka, United States, Indonesia, and others.

Ustadh Usama Canon

Born and raised in California, Ustadh Usama Canon embraced Islam in 1996. Since then, he has had the honor of studying various Islamic Sciences both at home and abroad under some of today's foremost scholars in America, Morocco, Egypt and Yemen like Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Shaykh Zaid Shakir, Habib Ali al-Jifri, Dr Umar Abdullah, Dr TJ Winter, Shaykh Khutry ould Bayab, etc. Currently, he serves as an Instructor at Zaytuna Institute and as a Muslim Chaplain for the State of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He is also the Director of the Zawiya Outreach Program and teaches a popular "Intro to Islam" class series at Zaytuna Institute. Ustadh Usama Canon is also the Founding Director of Ta'leef Collective and maintains an active role in various facets of outreach and education, concentrating on issues facing Muslim youth, assisting converts, and developing support systems for Muslim ex-offenders.

What Is Cupping

Cupping al-Hijamah is a method of treating in which a jar is attached to the skin surface to course a local congestion through the negative pressure created by introducing heat in the form of ignited material. This type of treatment has been practise by the Arabs and the Chinese for thousand of years.

In Malay, this practice is known as 'Bekam' and in Arabic 'Al-Hijamah' This therapy has been popularised by our Prophet Mohammad SAW ( 570 - 635 A D ) as stated in many hadith.
