Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Very quick update to rectify certain complains. We received complains regards to the prayer times on facebook, the musollah app and our site.

The prayer times on our portal and on Facebook have been rectified since Monday. Currently the Musollah app is yet to be updated. Our third party developers are working on it to solve the issue. We will update you again once its up.

By the way for the feedbacks, I guess when there's no problems there's no feedback and when there is no feedback we can't solve the issues. Alhamdulilah for the good problems.

Plan Plan Plan

What else would we do in the first week of the current new year be right? As usual the first week of year, the partners will come together to see what works and what didn't work. Then we work on new plans for the year.

A few things are in the pipeline which we can announced today.

1) A new User Interface to make the current site design more attractive.

2) Improvement on the Class Categories.

3) Dedicated sites for Musollah & Halal Listings to allow future expansions.

4) Affiliate system Integration for our E-Commerce system. Following closely with Amazon.com systems to allow online resellers to promote the CDs and books in the future. It means that you too can help promote the items in the online shop. More details will soon be up by February.

5) Price changes for the Banner advertising and commercial listings. Its going up this year!

6) Continue the work to engage writers and editors to cover events and write on current issues.

Also we are still discussing on donations portals or sites to help the mosques and organisations raise funds through our 30,000 monthly traffic.

So insyallah one by one we will make the changes and make it happen this year. Pray for us. Thank you.

Believing for an Extraordinary Year

I think this article still remain relevant for this week. For those who have not read it, please read thank you and have a inspiring year ahead.

Here are 5 key factors I would like to share with you, which I believe are extremely important for us to have in order to make the permanent changes we desire in this new year.

 

1. Extreme Clarity

Clarity stands hand-in-hand with intention. The more precise and specific you are with your intentions, the clearer it will be for you to see the you need to take. The dark road in front of you will be litted up with the guidance from Allah. He will show you by heart, what needs to be done in order for you to attain your goals, and He will even make you realise exactly how it is to be done. Trust Him. Realign your intentions. 

2. Focus

Anyone may easily get excited thinking about their new goals and planning for their new resolutions. However, a large percentage of that same group of people usually end up never achieving the things which they have set for themselves. And the number one reason for that based on some surveys, is the person's lack of focus.

With so many things going on in our lives throughout the year, most of us will tend to stray away from our main objectives, distracted by the small little upsets and turmoils and seduced by the pressure of settling for average, even though we already know that God created us with the potential to be more than who we are today. Focus is trained during our prayers. Choose to be more focused.

Workshop on the Islamic Gift Economy Macro Model

The 2007 Financial Crisis that struck the world was seen as the worse economical calamity since the Great Depression. Various causes were identified, including unethical enactments in the financial system and individual greed.

Unlike the modern financial system, the Islamic system highlights the moral, ethical and social dimensions, advocating fairness and equity amongst local communities and the society at large.

Islamic finance can particularly make a difference to the poor, who are often viewed by conventional banks as high-risk borrowers with their inability to provide collateral. Islamic finance might be the key to remove such unjust barriers that disqualifies the poor from attaining loans.

However, finance is only a portion of a fully functional, holistic Islamic economy, known as the Islamic Gift Economy (IGE) or al-Iqtisad al-Infaqi. IGE is understood as "the provisioning and sharing, by mutual giving and receiving, of natural and cultural abundance for realizing material and spiritual well-being in the community."

The principal aim of the IGE Workshop is to raise the community's awareness about true Islamic Economy (Mu'amalah), specifically amongst the tertiary students of SIM and UNISIM and other tertiary institutes.


The IGE is a two-day interactive workshop, where the audience will be engaging in Q&A sessions and discussing case studies after the insightful discourses from our guest speakers.

This course introduces the basic concepts of worldview as conceived from the various perspectives; sociological, psychological, political as well as in the dialectical discourse between secularism and religious living. 

We will focus on the meanings, characteristics and kinds of ideologies including some Western contemporary ideologies, such as materialism, secularism, modernism and post-modernism and contrast such ideologies with the concept of a worldview". These ideological conceptions will be juxtaposed with and analysed from the Islamic perspective.

Attendees will be exposed to several broad conceptions of what is the Islamic worldview culminating in the assertion that the Islamic worldview is an all-
encompassing vision of Reality and Existence as described and prescribed by Islam (Ru'yat al-Islam li al-Wujud).

This course would also provide the attendees with a strong understanding of the core of Islam and its main characteristics such as it being Syumul (Complete and comprehensive) and Rabbani (Divinely inspired). 

Attendees will also learn the pre-requsite elements towards understanding the Islamic worldview. These include; the concepts of al-Tawhid, existence (Wujud) and 'Ilm 
(Knowledge), the concepts of Iman (Faith) and Ihsan (excellence in 'Amal (Deeds), the concepts of SunnatulLah (Workings of nature as acts of God), Nubuwwah (Prophethood), 'Aql (Man's reasoning capacity) and Fitrah (Primordial nature of Man) in the discussion of Identity (Syaksiyyah) in Islam and the concept of Adab (The placing of things and self in their proper places) and 'Adl (Justice) as well as the role of man vis-à-vis the Creator (al-Khaliq) and the rest of creation.

The crisis of values and identity facing the ummah in the contemporary information technology driven Knowledge Society, the idea of progress and modernity, the nature and challenges of globalization, liberalism and extremism will also be discussed.

Importantly, ideas regarding the understanding of the Islamic worldview will be presented in the light of the need for a deeper understanding, development and adoption of the Islamic worldview among Muslims whom this course is intended for.
