Assalammualaikum wr wb,

All praises be to Allah swt, Lord of all Universe. Blessing be to the Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.

Dear

Ramadan is 11 days away.. Time is really clicking.. Are you ready for it?

This year, our company has been awarded the contract to run the Ramadan.sg portal and also the Facebook marketing/engagement to deliver the latest updates on Ramadan and more.

At the moment, the site is currently being built >> http://www.ramadan.sg and we are hoping to launch the site ( skeleton version ) by next Monday ( 25th July) and we'll be filling up the contents as we go along this Ramadan.

Does it mean like last year, we stop posting at Islamicevents.sg and made it dormant?

No. This year we would try a new strategy to duplicate contents to our portal also meaning you will also get updates via Islamicevents.sg on the latest happenings, stories and more.

This year we have a little bit more budget ( due to all your support) and we are able to hire a Full time editor to take care of the updates here, so you will not miss anything here..

Now allow us to share with you what's going to happen this Ramadan.

Unlike the previous years, this years Ramadan theme is actually a beginning of a year long campaign by Darul Quran ( Masjid Kg Siglap ) about getting people to be closer to Allah swt through the Quran.

In fact the whole theme is milder than last years as it focuses a lot more on YOU ( Connecting the Soul ) & the Al Quran.

Hence the following Theme was chosen:

Rejuvenate Ramadan with the Light of Al Quran
( Hidupkan Ramadan dengan Cahaya Al Quran )

In our list there are 9 main events including Ramadan Launch ( Happening @ Masjid Istighfar on Saturday, 30th July 2011), Tilawah Alquran, RYC Camps, Night of Power and more.

This year's concept focus on 4 areas.

  1. The first week, the emphasis is towards returning to the Al Quran or discovering the Al Quran.
  2. The second week, focus is on Reading the Al Quran
  3. The third week is about understanding the Al Quran and the meanings.
  4. And finally the last week of Ramadan, the focus is on internalising the meanings of the Al Quran

This 4 week campaign will also support and launch a whole year of activities for Darul Quran. More details will be mention during the launch on the 30th of July 2011.

Photography Competition - Ramadan Through Your Eyes

Last year there were quite a few requests for Project Ramadan Through Your Eyes to be kicked off again. Well the format will change this year. There used to be workshops then a full fledge competition.

Honestly there isn't time for a Photography workshop this year, so we decided that we will just do an ONLINE competition through out the month just like how we did last years' Haj Photography competition. More grueling details will come soon. :)

We need your support and help..

Like last year, we welcome anyone to contribute articles, poems and so on.

We also like to welcome stories like...

  • About a friend that has just converted to Islam, only discovering Islam this year and going through their first Ramadan..
  • A poor family struggling to survive in Ramadan having nothing to look for Syawal. But through some help and support they receive certain forms of blessings.
  • Discovering Allah through Quran. They say "If you want something from Allah swt, you pray to him, but if you want Allah swt to talk to you, read the Quran."
  • The business man that uses the Quran as his guide.

and definitely more..

And if you like to be our Journalist for the Month of Ramadan ( If you like to go for events and write about them ) we need you too.

Yes. We look forward to more event writers.
