Special Updates

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Dear

Wow Ramadan can really past us just like that. Today is already the 19th of Ramadan and we hope you are having the best Ramadan yet.

On a personal level, I believe this has been the best Ramadan yet and I am really looking forward to the last 10 days of Qiyams, Taddarus Quran and Iftar Activities.

First up, tonight is the night where 5 Mosque will attempt to read the Al Quran together in this mega event by the Islamic Religious Council MUIS called "Malam Gema Quran" or in English, "Echoes of the Al Quran".

Yes for the first time ever, Mufti will be leading the Quran recitations at Masjid Al Amin ( Telok Belanga ) and this will be viewed live at 4 other mosques - Masjid Ansar ( Bedok ), Masjid En Naeem (Hougang), Masjid Al Iman (Bukit Panjang) and Masjid Hasanah (Teban Gardens). So reciters at these other 4 mosques can join together to read the Al Quran too.

Wait. We didn't forget you at home. Yes. You can also follow this program on www.ramadan.sg/live

Are you caring enough?

In the past few years, a group of University Graduates and Undergraduates have been coming together to visit and distribute food to poor elderly during Ramadan.

This year they are doing it again and this time round they would like to open this up to anyone who wants to volunteer.

Programme Details

Meeting Time: Monday, 22nd of August 2011, 6pm (Distribution will start after maghrib)

Meeting Location: Commonwealth MRT Station, Long John Silvers

We have managed to secure sponsorship from Mendaki, IslamicEvents.SG and a few individual donors to support the purchase of the food items, however if the amount is not sufficient we will be contributing from our own pockets so do bring at least $20 to chip in. We will try to source for more funding for the project.

We also need people with cars/van to transport the items to the houses. Do inform us if you are able to provide.

Do contact Fazli (91798353) or Syazwani (93860762) if you can be part of the effort.

Programme for the Evening
1) Shopping for Goody Bags at Sheng Siong
2) Iftar at Long John Silvers
3) Maghrib Prayer at Mujahidin Mosque
4) Home Visits to 32 Houses of Lonely Muslim Elderly at Stirling Road and Mei Ling Street
5) R & R at Tanglin Halt Hawker Centre

We hope through this activity, we can remind ourselves of the needs of the less fortunate in our community and be aware of the situation of other individuals so that through our ibadah we can remember them and make decisions which will include their well being.
