This last week has been challenging for us as we were supposed to launch our site. However due to new implementations and challenges, the site is yet to be completed and this may take us another week or so before we can reveal the new site.

We thank you for your patient.

Last week we promised you that we will introduce a new service. Yes we will share with you today the plans for this new service and may you benefit from it.

Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. What else can we say? We are still here and we are still serving you because Allah swt allow us this. May Allah swt preserves us and protect us. Insyallah.

Time really flies. On Nov 5 @ 10am 2007, that day, this time, our portal was launched and the first group of people that we reached out to was a small group 100 NUS students we knew back then. Today this portal is visited by 30,000 to 50,000 visitors monthly wanting to know what activities are going on in mosques or in other Islamic Organisations, wanting to know where is the nearest mosques or musollahs and lately the nearest Halal locations. Also wanting to know what's on sale from our Online Shop and always waiting for news or commentaries from our Blog section.

We hope we have brought to you value throughout the years. From time to time, we do meet people that give thanks to us and we appreciate the gestures. Thank you Allah for bringing you to show us that our work is worth it and thank you for supporting us.

To our interns, part time staff and free lancers past and present, we are really grateful for all the energy that you have contributed towards keeping this company moving day to day.

A favour from this humble servant. All we would like to ask is that you doa to Allah swt for us to constantly give us strength and the wisdom to continue serving the Muslim community in Singapore and also to the world.

A friend gave us that line when we communicated with her about the idea of this new service.

Firstly please note that Alfatiha.sg is not a new separate portal from Islamicevents.sg. Just like the musollah locations, our blogs and halal locaters, alfatiha.sg is just another sub service that we are embarking on.

So what's Alfatiha.sg all about?

To keep it simple it's primary duty is just to publish about your love ones that have moved on.

We can help you propagatee and inform/announce the death of your love ones to more than 7,000 subscribers in our database and Facebook Fans.

And we are also on a mission to archive information regards to our pre-decessors.

How many of you can still remember or actually know your Great Great Grandfather? Or as simple as do you know who is Rasulullah saw father? Cos we share a lot about Rasulullah saw life but how often do we talk about the Rasulullah saw's parents?

That is a saying that "You don't just love the person, you must also love the whole family to love the person."

Honestly I am guilty of that too, there is much for me to read and learn about our Prophets life and his family but now my point is "Everyone matters".

The purpose of this archive is to keep track and store as much information as possible about the deceased. And this is not just about important people because you never know a doctor, a lawyer, a governer or a great businessman is born from parents that were only taxi drivers, chamber maids and or even the road sweeper on the street.

So "Everyone Matters".

In one way or another, the deceased would have contributed to society. He or she could have been part of a Masjid Community to support and build the mosques from ground up. He or she could have been part of the project to build a bridge that exists till today that we enjoy crossing. Or the under appreciated cleaner that keeps our city clean.

I hope we have always been grateful for such beings and I hope you are getting to my point - "Everyone Matters" even when they are not around anymore because their stories will live on in your lives and someday to your children and grandchildren lives too.

So where do you find information about them when they are no longer around?
Do you know where their graves are in 10 years down the road?

And so what are we archiving?

Information such as:

• Family Lineage ( Where was one born, which family and the continuing family )
• Contributions to Society
• Personal History from childhood to the time of death
• Personal Achievements
• Graveyard information ( For search convenience )

And so how to we get the information up to Alfatiha.sg?

Firstly you must produce the following documents:

To be qualified for an insertion in this obituary, a family member / relative of deceased must produce the following documents.

• A copy of the Death Certificate of Deceased
• Photocopy of NRIC of Family that is submitting the information.
• A photo of the Deceased. ( Digital will be a preferred option )

Fees & Payment for our Services.

1) Administration Fee & Lifetime Submission in this portal.

A minimum sum of $97 would be appreciated to cover the administration costs of this service. For case by case basis, if family cannot afford the fees, we will waive it off ( or look for any sponsors ).

Until 31 Dec 2011, the fee for each entry will be $70.

Questions & Answers

Q: Can I submit information about my late relatives that has passed a long time ago.
A: Yes. Provided you can produce the above documents.

Q: How long does this entry exist in the website
A: We cannot promise an eternity as we would also be deceased someday. However the answer is that as long the community supports our efforts to run Islamicevents.sg, the information will always be online.

Q: Our information does not appear on the Main Page? Why is that so?
A: Information on the main page is only for the latest entries. Past entries will be archived and are searchable through the search facilities.

Q: How many people will be notified about this death?
A: To date we have grown over 7,000 subscribers through our portal Islamicevents.sg, Facebook fan pages and Twitter profiles.
