We hope you are doing great. Alhamdulillah. The team here is always busy as ever, managing order, find people to accomplish some tasks for us and its just never ends..

We are always reminded that Rasulullah ( saw ) never gave up spreading Islam till his last breath. We hope to stay strong and continue giving our best. Thank you for the support all these while.

How close are we to Allah swt?

Knowing that every step we take towards Allah swt, He will take 10 steps towards us. And when we walk towards Him, He will run towards us. Knowing is one thing, but are we taking the steps? Allahualam.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah [S.A.W.W](P.B.U.H) said,

"Allah says: I am just as My slave thinks of Me when he remembers Me.' By Allah! Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than one of you who unexpectedly finds in the desert his lost camel. 'He who comes closer to Me one span, I come closer to him a cubit; and he who comes closer to Me a cubit, I come closer to him a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running".

Technology Update

In the previous newsletter, we mention that we took 2 days to build up this app. Well knowing the time frame of the programme, we didn't factor in the issues that may arrised.

In 4 short days, we had more than 6000 installations. But the problem was only a few hundred posts made it each time it sends out. So there was an attempt to fix it but apparently on Friday , 11th of April ( from Maghrib & Isyak ), a major bug came about and it spammed the users wall. Some had more than 10 postings on their walls.

Firstly we would like to apologize for what had happened and we take responsibility of the problem.

We have since relaunched it mid week. It is still buggy but we have set measures to ensure that the Spam does not happen again.

For the time being we will only allow postings during Subuh >> Facebook Prayer Time App until we find that the system is stable enough to take huge volumes.

The next Majlis Selawat session has been confirmed to be Sunday, 24th June 2012 @ Sultan Mosque. Do look out for more details as we firm up the themes, asatizahs and the qasidah groups in the next few weeks.

Event 1: Divine Inspiration - Spiritual Sound of the Bamboo

A Bamboo would just be a wooden stick that would be useless if one does not know how to use it. From the discovery of sound being played from a Bamboo, people then used it to play folk songs and such. Have you ever heard that such Bamboo instruments can also play the tunes of Qasidahs and Nasyids?

Event 2: Voices of Syria

A group of students studying in Syria came together one day and starting singing the praises of Allah swt and blessings for Rasulullah saw. Since then they have been invited to hundreds of events to perform and showcase the beautiful sounds of Syria. Catch Maadihul Mustafa performing their Qasidahs here.

Event 3: The Journey - Israk & Mikraj

If you were astound by Malam Puisi Islam organised a few months back. Get ready for another thrilling night full of artists and performers to share with you the journey Rasulullah saw embark on during that special night.

Ihsan is worshipping Allah s.w.t as is you can see Him, but even though you cannot see Him, He can see you.

That was the theme for the first ever Al-Maghrib Institute's event in Singapore, called "A Heart Serene – Studies in Tazkiyah (The Purification of the Soul). Held at Pince George’s Park Residences Auditorium, National University of Singapore, this was the first ever 5-day double weekend degree seminar conducted by Al-Maghrib Institute in Singapore. The first weekend started last Friday night from 7 – 10 pm, and continued on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 7 pm. The second will be happening this weekend on 19 and 20 May 2012.

The seminar was conducted by Shaykh Riad Ourzazi, who is known for his "excited outbursts, infectious energy, catchy chants, and class exercises.” Not your usual Shaykh, wearing a purple shirt and jeans and entering the auditorium with a pair of boxing gloves and shocking all of us with his dynamic energy and passion,

Shaykh Riad first asked the question:

"What is the difference between heart, soul and nafs?
" What kind of heart do you have?
"We spend so much time taking care and cleaning our favourite things but we neglect our hearts to be one for the One.
"What is the link between the heart and ihsan?

The highest level of ihsan is ihsan to Allah s.w.t, hence to achieve this highest degree of ihsan, one needs to have a pure heart. The first person that comes up in my mind with having achieved this – our dearest Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
