Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

How's your Ramadan been? Not in full gear yet? Perhaps this article will help you get into gear..

MARHABAN YA RAMADHAN

BY USTAZ MUHAMMAD MAZDIUKY BIN MD ISHAK

Here comes Ramadhan, the month which fasting was prescribed in order to gain taqwa!

Here comes Ramadhan, zakat al-jasad, junna and as-sabru diya', the tax of the body, a shield and pure light!

Rasulullah sollallahu 'alaihi wassalam said: "The fast and the Qur'an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: "Ya Rabb, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him." The Qur'an will say: "I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him." And their intercession will be accepted." HR Imam Ahmad with a sahih chain.

Do not make Ramadhan the month of eating festivities.

Do not make Ramadhan the month where sleeping is the daily rituals.

Do not make Ramadhan after a short solat terawih at night, the activities to follow on is the casual endless chatting. After the seeming endless chatting, everyone returns home to sleep, forgetting to get up during the night to be close to Allah.

Ramadhan is not only to revive the night or to suffer from hunger during the day and being under exhaustion. Ramadhan is meant for us to revive our minds, our hearts and souls with the feeling of being with Allah. Ramadhan is the joyous times for our souls to feel and to obey unquestioningly towards Him, to feel low down with Him, to have the feeling of weakness towards Him, and to have the feeling of being small towards Allah, The Akbar.

Ramadhan is the time to revive our hearts to feel humble, to fear Allah, to love Allah, to feel being with Allah always. Ramadhan is the time to make our souls have the feeling of compassion towards others, loving and caring for others, to sympathise with those in hardships and those unfortunate ones.

Ramadhan is the time to deepen our feelings of being sinful towards Him, having fear to do anymore wrongdoings. Ramadhan is the time to feel Allah's Supremacy, to feel His Awesomeness and His Strength. Ramadhan is not just actively doing the physical rituals

which seem good on the exterior while the inner aspects are neglected and in darkness.

What is important is to keep our souls alive, having an inner state of pleasure. Allah does not see the exterior or the outside but He sees what's inside. Allah wishes to see what's inside the human soul as to whether his soul has the feelings of being with Allah.

Fasting during the day, night prayers being performed, Quran being read : all to enlighten the soul which has been in darkness.

Reciting the zikir should not be just an utterance but it comes with inner feelings. To do zikir is not just at the tongue but the heart is saying it as well, felt in the heart. To do the zikir is not at the tongue but what's remembered inside the heart.

The arrival of Ramadhan is for the purpose of reviving the heart which has been dead all this while.Hopefully, with a month of Ramadhan to revive the heart, it will last for another year. Then as the next Ramadhan appears the same thing happens again where the dead heart is revived to last for another year. This is for the normal person who is indifferent and negligent. For someone with taqwa where his soul is always alive, the coming of Ramadhan is the time for him to upgrade his position with Allah.

But if Ramadhan comes without any effort to revive the inner souls, the exterior seems joyous, the exterior being lighted up with various physical rituals while the inner rituals left unattended, during the times outside the month of Ramadhan, sad to say, the heart will be left in darkness for the whole year.

May Allah save us from that.

TAKE PART...

Besides the daily solat, terawih, reading the quran, there are a lot of activities in Ramadan that you can be part of to revive our hearts. Through community activities like visiting old folks, helping out in bubur distribution, volunteering at camps, inspiring friends on facebook and more. Each one of us have a part to play to revive each other.

So Come On Let's Do Something This Ramadan.

Giving Back to the Poor.

We are not talking about just paying your Zakat. That's important too however we want to talk about physically doing something. There are few organisations like SimplyIslam.sg that run programs like Charity Baskets and such.

    3) Visit to Atuk & Nenek @ Queenstown Area

By National University of Singapore Alumnis

The old folks living in this area are often lonely due to being left by their families or they don't have children of their own. For the last 3 years, a group of NUS Alumnis ( mostly from the Arts faculty ) pool in their own money to buy daily groceries such as rice, sugar, milo and so on and make a visit to 48 houses.

More importantly is that these old folks needed company and someone to talk to. So they would spend about 30 minutes in each house entertaining these folks too.

If you are a NUS Alumni or if you have studied there before, you are welcome to join us in this activity.

Tasbih or Tasbeeh is a form of dhikr that involves the repetitive utterances of short sentences glorifying God, in Islam. So its not referring to the beads but how the beads got the name is because of how it is used to count and keep track of the tasbeehs.

One of the famous Tasbih's is.

    In order:

    1. Allahuakbar (Allah is the Greatest) - repeated 33 times.
    2. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) - repeated 33 times.
    3. Subhan'Allah (Glory be to Allah) - repeated 33 times.

Well you can use your fingers to count the dhikrs but you are encourage to use beads like shown. Its actually easier to count.

If you are looking for good quality beads or customise as a present for your love ones or friends you can refer to www.tasbih99beads.com.
