Off To Brunei..

The first thought when we emailed our contacts about this trip, they thought that we were going for "reservist".

** For those overseas. "Reservist" is the time when the Government calls back the men in Singapore to serve 1 week to 4 weeks for operational duties or for training in the Army, Police or other Serviceevery year after their 2 years of National Service.

But that's not the case, we aren't travelling for that purpose. So what will we be doing there?

Perhaps this is our first step to look beyond this little red dot island, Singapore. We would be there to meet up with friends, business people and asatizahs there to potentially look at avenues of collaborations to eventually set up Islamicevents Brunei within the next one year.

Why Brunei and not Malaysia?

If you have been online for a while, you would know that there are many activities happening just across our borders however little is heard from this Muslim Country, Brunei. We are not too sure why either? You would be probably heard of the Royal Family getting married but that's it. Is it really that boring country?

So that is why this trip is important as we want to research and understand this market - their problems, their issues, their situations and their limitations. Perhaps this is where our expertise can help expediate their programs over there.

Hopefully, Insyallah we can come back with more ideas and experience to further improve the businesses here because you never know there are solutions being implement which we don't have here.

Your Doas are much appreciated and if you do have friends that you wish for us to link up to. Drop us an email about them and we'll try to accomodate our schedules there.

Our Websites are still operational.

Our Online shops, Event submissions & Facebook updates are still operational as we do have our staff to maintain it. And on our side, we'll still be checking emails daily.

For next week, there will be no newsletter except for the schedule emails for Mawlid Festival 2012.

We will see you soon.

Qurban Overseas. How blessed are we to be offered this?

When costs of performing the Ibadah Qurban is rising because of the various policies, rising costs of transportation, enforcment on the local masjids here and equipments to purchase, many among our peers have started complaining about these issues.

Let's be positive and always remember this,"When one door is closed another opportunity always open and Allah swt knows the best for His servants".

And here in Singapore we are actually blessed because we have various organisations and companies that promotes this service overseas. In fact we are so blessed because we have options to choose to do it overseas if you cannot afford to do it locally. And we are not just bind to one offer. Alhamdulillah.

We should be grateful because in other areas of the world this offers is not even available to them and some even cannot perform this honorable ritual in their lands due to politics, religious sensitivity and many others. So lets not even talked about fairness. So let's pray to Allah swt for their safety and well being for those who are in those areas of the world. May they too have the same opportunities as we have today.

Treaty of Hudaybiyyah - Sabr & Prayers

I was listening attentively to the khutbah yesterday because the Khatib is by Ustaz TM Fouzi @ Masjid Sultan.

He shared with us the story of Rasulullah saw which I myself have not heard of. It was about one of the years where Rasulullah saw and the Muslim community at that time, travelled from Madinah to Mekah to perform the Umrah.

---------------

Look out for the "Treaty of Hudaybiyyah"

Extracts from >> http://alislaah3.tripod.com/alislaah/id11.html

When the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah had finished drawing up the treaty, he sacrificed a camel and then shaved his head. This was a difficult time for the Muslims because all their hopes had been dashed. They had left Madinah with the firm intention of entering Makkah and doing 'umrah. Now they felt beaten and crushed. However, when they saw that the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah had made the sacrifice and shaved his head, they rushed to follow his example

A HUMILIATING PEACE OR A CLEAR VICTORY?

Then the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah broke camp and returned to Madinah. On his journey back, Allah confirmed that the truce of Hudaybiyyah was not a set-back but a victory:

"Surely We have given you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you your former and later sins, and complete His blessing on you and guide you on a straight path and that Allah may help you with a mighty help. (Quran - 48: 1-3)

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, 'Is this a victory then, Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah!'

He replied, 'Yes'.

OUTCOME OF THE TREATY:

Not long after the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah had returned to Madinah, a man named Abu Basir Utbah ibn Usayd came from Makkah to join the Muslims. The Quraysh sent emissaries to fetch him back. They said, 'Under the terms of the treaty which you made with us you must hand him over.' So the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah allowed them to take Abu Basir with them. But on the way back to Makkah, he escaped from them and fled to the coast. Abu Jandal ibn Suhayl also escaped and joined Abu Basir. Then everyone who had become a Muslim and who had suffered persecution from the Quraysh joined Abu Basir until they comprised a group numbering seventy. They set themselves up on a trade route. Whenever they heard that a caravan of the Quraysh had left for Syria, they way laid it, killed the merchants and took the goods they were carrying.

The Hudaybiyyah treaty gave the idol-worshippers and Muslims an opportunity to mix. The idol-worshippers soon came to appreciate the good qualities of the Muslims. Before a year had passed, many of them had become Muslims, and the Quraysh leaders were worried about their influence.

They sent to the Prophet, begging him by Allah and by kinship, not to return the men to Makkah but to keep them in Madinah. From then on whoever of them came to him from Makkah was safe.

These moves indicated that the Treaty of al-Hudaybiyyah in which the Messenger(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) of Allah had accepted all the Quraysh conditions had been beneficial after all. The treaty had been a decisive step in gaining further victories for Islam and in spreading the faith throughout the Arabian peninsula with great speed. It led to the conquest of Makkah and the opportunity to invite the kings of the world - Caesar, Chosroes, Muqawqis and the Arabian princes - to accept Islam. Allah the Great revealed:

Yet it may happen that you will hate a thing which is better for you; and it may happen that you will love a thing which is worse for you. Allah knows, and you know not. (Quran - 2: 216)

.....

Did you know that one of the greatest warriors of Islam - KHALID IBN AL-WALID (The Sword of Islam) converted to Islam after this treaty?

--------------

Ustaz TM Fouzy reminds us during the khutbah that even Rasulullah saw was stopped in his journey and he too was tested. So let us be in state of sabr and pray for the best.

This was addressed because of the recent announcement by the Saudi Arabia authorities regards to the Hajj quota causing problems and losses worth millions of dollars.

Our thoughts..

Imagine us still here in Singapore, still in a comfortable place where as the Muslims back then had already walked miles and miles under the hot desert sun and yet being stopped at Hudaybiyyah. Imagine how frustrated they were.

Hence our Doa to all our friends & families that was not accepted for Hajj this year, do be in the state of Sabr and let's pray to Allah swt to grant them another opportunity in the coming years.

For those that made it in the quota, we congragulate you and we will doa for you have Hajj Mabrur.

A Hajj Mabrur (an accepted Hajj) is a Hajj performed - overall - in a manner pleasing to Allah, and its signs are that a person returns with resolve and determination to fulfill their duty to Allah in a pleasing manner.

Below is an actual inquiry by one of the Bros and our answer to his question.

Inquiry on Ensiklopedia Solat

Assalamu'alaykum ...

Is there a reference on how to do solat on a vehicle (regardless of whether land, sea or air) being featured? How about jama' or qashar? What about sujud sahwi? Are there images showing how to perform solat when lying down? Does it include how to do solat when carrying an infant or toddler? Performing tayammum also? The way Rasullah S.A.W perform solat e.g. the reason of wiping someone's face after giving salaam at end of solat? Why performing solat differs among the 4 books of scholars (Hanafi, Malik, Shafii & Hanbali)?

Jazakallah Khairan

Answers

Wa'salam,

Please note that the ensiklopedia is in Malay as it is a Malaysian publication. No english version is available currently.

The ensiklopedia is arranged in Alphabetical order hence you may need to know the keywords in Malay to find the references.

To answer you queries.

1) Solat on vehicles

It doesn't specificly mention it. However there are guidelines to it in the chapter on Musafir.

2) Jama' or qashar
There's a whole chapter on this and this is one of the topics in the chapter. pg 303

3) Sujud Sahwi

Its on pg 345. It also shows the different situations example. Individual who are not sure the rakaats he has made. Also what if the Imam make a mistake, how do you perform it as a Jemaah.

4) Lying down.

It is in the chapter "Abai Solat" - "Avoiding Solat". In this chapter it says that it clear that in whatever situation we have to solat even in sickness cos solat can also perform with just our eyes (if the whole body is unable to move).

Also on Page 329 with nice images.

5) Carrying infant and toddler.
yes there are examples on this. Pg 55.

6) Tayammum
Yes. A whole chapter on this. Pg 417

7) The way Rasullah S.A.W perform solat e.g. the reason of wiping someone's face after giving salaam at end of solat?

No reference to this or we could not find it.

8) Differences between the 4 scholars.
