All praises be to Allah swt, Lord of all Universe. The Most Merciful and the Most Kind. Blessings be to our Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

Just before our trip to Brunei, our founder Fadzuli Wahab was offered a venue for rent. And so we have been busy setting up the place the past few weeks to get it up and going. Yes. It is true that we are a little distracted about the set up and all but these are things that make it exciting for new ventures like ours. Walking into an unknown territory.

And so this would be the same journey for some our of family members, colleagues and friends who are going to embark for Hajj soon. For many it would be a new experience and learning for them and for those who has been there before, do guide the others. Though the trip is in a few weeks, we would love to wish you a safe journey and may Allah swt grant you Hajj Mabrur.

Besides that the Islamicevents.sg website had to be moved to a new location as we were taking up too much bandwidth and the server company was asking to upgrade or move. And so we decided to move to another location and if you happen to see glitches to help to report to us.

So read on.

Still looking for Qurban Options?

Alhamdulillah. After much hoo haa in the papers about the sheeps not getting in Singapore, all that have been resolved. This year only a few mosques will be offering the services.

However there are almost half a million people here in Singapore and definitely the local service are still insufficient.

Hence there are companies and organisation that are offering Qurban overseas. Do consider them too. Support the following organisations / companies providing the Qurban services overseas.

The Innocence of Muslims

innocence of Muslims

By Saadia Khan,

An Unfortunate Side-Effect of the Innocence of Muslims Controversy

As I write this, it is mid-September 2012 and the Muslim world is ablaze with angry reactions to a film called "The Innocence of Muslims." From Libya to Egypt, Pakistan to Indonesia the Muslim street is burning, rioting, pillaging, even killing in defence of the beloved Prophet (sas) and his reputation. Pundits everywhere are once again debating the limits of free speech versus, as Newsweek put it, catering to the sensitivities of "Muslim Rage."

I must admit, I'm surprised by all the attention the film is continuing to receive. Hours after I first heard about it, I was able to watch parts of it on YouTube since it hadn't yet been taken down in Singapore. Though of course I was dismayed by the content, a part of me was also amused. The film was absolute garbage, a dreadfully edited C-class production with horrendous acting and parts that had been very obviously (and atrociously) dubbed over. I've seen high school presentations demonstrate more technical expertise. What was my reaction? I closed my laptop, said "Audhu Billah" (I seek refuge in God) and went on with my life. That was over a week ago. When I checked again this morning, the film was no longer available for viewing. But it hardly matters. This thing is no longer about the film. Perhaps it never was.

Below is an actual inquiry by one of the Bros and our answer to his question.

Inquiry on Ensiklopedia Solat

Assalamu'alaykum ...

Is there a reference on how to do solat on a vehicle (regardless of whether land, sea or air) being featured? How about jama' or qashar? What about sujud sahwi? Are there images showing how to perform solat when lying down? Does it include how to do solat when carrying an infant or toddler? Performing tayammum also? The way Rasullah S.A.W perform solat e.g. the reason of wiping someone's face after giving salaam at end of solat? Why performing solat differs among the 4 books of scholars (Hanafi, Malik, Shafii & Hanbali)?

Jazakallah Khairan

Answers

Wa'salam,

Please note that the ensiklopedia is in Malay as it is a Malaysian publication. No english version is available currently.

The ensiklopedia is arranged in Alphabetical order hence you may need to know the keywords in Malay to find the references.

To answer you queries.

1) Solat on vehicles

It doesn't specificly mention it. However there are guidelines to it in the chapter on Musafir.

2) Jama' or qashar
There's a whole chapter on this and this is one of the topics in the chapter. pg 303

3) Sujud Sahwi

Its on pg 345. It also shows the different situations example. Individual who are not sure the rakaats he has made. Also what if the Imam make a mistake, how do you perform it as a Jemaah.

4) Lying down.

It is in the chapter "Abai Solat" - "Avoiding Solat". In this chapter it says that it clear that in whatever situation we have to solat even in sickness cos solat can also perform with just our eyes (if the whole body is unable to move).

Also on Page 329 with nice images.

5) Carrying infant and toddler.
yes there are examples on this. Pg 55.

6) Tayammum
Yes. A whole chapter on this. Pg 417

7) The way Rasullah S.A.W perform solat e.g. the reason of wiping someone's face after giving salaam at end of solat?

No reference to this or we could not find it.

8) Differences between the 4 scholars.

In this ensiklopedia, some chapters does reference to the different scholars while majority highlighted Imam Syafi's school of thought.

I hope I have given you my best answer for your answers

Thank you for your questions and I hope the journey to acquire more knowledge on our deen doesn't stop here. May Allah swt bless you with more knowledge insyallah.
