All praises be to Allah swt, Lord of all Universe. The Most Merciful and the Most Kind. Blessings be to our Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.

maulid season

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Dear ,

There are two main seasons in the Islamic Calendar that drives thousands of Muslims to the mosques each year. One is Ramadan and another is the Maulidur Rasul season. And just like the past 5 years, there will be a lot of events going around the country, so we hope that you take advantage to make time for the events to gain more knowledge and to gain more love towards Allah swt and our Rasullulah saw.

Alhamdulillah, @ islamicevents.sg we are getting more submissions of events and we hope you do check the various events and courses that is available for you and your family.

Change in Newsletter Schedule

From here on we will do our best to deliver our weekly/bi-weekly newsletter on Tuesdays instead of Fridays as more and more events are occuring on the weekends and little time is given to expose them. So for the benefit of both organisers and participants we shall shift our newsletters to an earlier time.

So read on.

Quran @ ISE

quranise

It was in mid December that I just got back from reservist, Fazli wrote an email. "Li I've installed and developed the Quran into the portal". This was actually not in our plans at all because for Quran reference we often visit websites like Quran.com. So why re-invent the wheel? And so it took me a while to figure out.

And we realize this. At websites like Quran.com, the Arabic Text are usually in image form, where ours are Text based.

What does this mean?

If you wish to copy the text on the Quran.com website, you do need to press ( Right Click and Save the Image ) but this is saved as an Image.

Well the problem with images is that its not SCALEABLE - if you want to enlarge, you can't because it will be blurred.

Where as the one we've built can scale for Posters or even Big Banners.

And implementations to various Apps will be much easier too..

FB - Daily Verses App.

Such as the above, with our current knowledge and skills this was put up in two days. Alhamdulillah it's already being posted 3 times a day at our Islamicevent.sg Facebook page. The current app is not released for individuals walls yet.

Currently how the App works.

1) One verse will be published each time. And each time the arabic text and english text is published.
2) It is posted in sequence from the first verse to the 6346 verse.
3) Postings are 3 times a day. It means it will take 6346 / (3 x 356 ) = 5 years plus to clear all the verses.

At the end of the day we hope the Quran Component will benefit you in one way or another.

If you wish to have this implemented on your walls, give us a reply here.

Expanding Overseas

Recently we have acquired "Islamicevents.my" domain as part of our commitment to begin stepping out of Singapore's shores and insyallah we hope to launch this portal by June 2013 as part of our expansion plans.

We are targetting to raise $50,000 this year to jump-start our expansion towards providing the IslamicEvents platform for neighbouring Muslim communities. May Allah ease our way with every contribution.

We will need your support to further develop and expand this platform. The funds contributed will provide the capital to develop technology, products and services for the benefit of the Muslim community.

We understand the power of community and we would like to open up this door to allow individuals like yourself to contribute to our efforts. We definitely cannot do this alone and any contribution will go a long way in the betterment of our Ummah. Be it a single contribution or a monthly amount, every dollar will bring us further.

You can also contact us directly if you want to contribute larger amounts of sponsorship or in any other way, we are open for discussion. Insyallah we can work ways to get you to benefit from our products and services. Do contact us at info@islamicsg.net.

8 Tickets to give away

An encounter with Ustaz Zahid Zin on Sunday ended up with a sharing by Him regards to the outcome of Zouq done by Syabab SG.

Because of that event, one of the youths told their parents about it and the youth's father immediately met up with Ustaz Zahid the next few days and infaq 100 tickets ( $35 ) for the upcoming Spiritual Rhythm concert.  And this man's intentions is to give away these tickets to Youths who cannot afford it as he saw the impact of Zouq to his child. Allah's works, we never know what could happen.

And so Ustaz Zahid talked to me personally yesterday and ask us to do something to help out give away these tickets - do a competition or anything that comes to mind.

And so Islamicevents.sg is given the task to give 10 tickets away and the group of people to get these tickets are youths age 25 and below. Where does the other 90 ticket go to? I believe Madeehul Mustafa will be issuing it out their students.

2 tickets have already been given away and we are left with 8 right now.

And so we've decided to have this little competition among our subscribers and followers.

Write a short essay. ( 400 words )

1) Title: What is Qasidah to Me?

Begin your article with - Qasidah is....

2) Please note that you need to be 25 years old and below.

3) Submit this article with your name, email and contact no and NRIC ( as proof of your age ) to competition@islamicevents.sg

We hope to see your submissions soon.
